AnimeSY interview with Marta Cippoliti Aziz is a published, in-demand arranger and composer who writes and arranges music across every genre — classical, film, pop, jazz, and everything in between — for ensembles of every kind, from solo instruments to full orchestras. Among his projects, he is the sole arranger behind AnimeSY, which reimagines anime soundtracks as full orchestral works, performed live by a professional orchestra — bringing the music of anime into the concert hall as a real symphonic experience.

AnimeSY at the Berlin Philharmonie His arrangements have been performed by the Symphony of the Americas, Orquestra Simfònica de les Illes Balears, CAP PELA, QuitoCellos, Amadeus Music Group, and Stella Strings, Palm Beach Symphony musicians, with his works currently performed across the United States and around the world — including in Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Romania, Türkiye, Ecuador, Bulgaria, and Uzbekistan.

Backstage with Andy Brick Aziz has been interested in writing and rewriting music since childhood, and studied orchestration and composition throughout his higher education years. However, he gained a special affinity for film scoring and multimedia production during his time as a fellow with the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra, studying film scoring under Carlos Rafael Rivera (The Queen's Gambit) and Chris Boardman (Payback). During his time with the institute he also performed under James Newton Howard.

On stage with Pinchas ZukermanIn the classical world, he has appeared alongside Pinchas Zukerman, Renee Fleming, Midori Goto, Joshua Bell, Edgar Meyer, Yefim Bronfman, Placido Domingo, Zuil Bailey, and many other prominent concert musicians.

On stage with Leonidas KavakosHe has performed under the baton of Daniel Oren, Manuel Nawri, Gerard Schwarz, Gunther Schuller, and Steven Mercurio, among many others. He appears on numerous recordings — some Grammy and Latin Grammy nominated. Aziz Sapaev is the founding member of the Con Brio String Quartet.
CAP PELA and OSIB in Majorca He regularly performs solo and chamber music concerts across the South-Eastern US and the Washington, D.C. / tri-state area, and has performed for multiple U.S. presidents, foreign dignitaries, and Florida Congressmen and Governors.

On stage with Lindsey Stirling Aziz's approach to arranging rests on a simple premise: arranging is, at its core, a problem-solving exercise. Every arrangement should solve a problem for someone — and it needs to solve more problems than it creates. Over the course of his performing career, he has sat through countless rehearsals derailed by a decision an arranger or orchestrator made without accounting for the fact that the music would be played by live musicians — music that didn't communicate its intent clearly to the people performing it, and did not account for what the musicians may already know and are used to playing. He writes to eliminate exactly that kind of friction.

Performing at Mar-a-LagoHis work is guided by three responsibilities, always in this order: a responsibility to the audience, to the performers, and to the original creator. He starts by asking what the audience needs and wants to hear, and which elements of the source material are its defining features for that audience. From there, the question becomes how to best communicate those elements to the musicians, so they can deliver them to the audience as clearly and efficiently as possible. Only then does he run the arrangement through a final filter: does it serve the original creator's intent — does it communicate the mood, character, and feel of the original work?

At the Florida State CapitolEvery arrangement is written for a specific purpose, for a specific target audience and performers — the same piece can be written very differently depending on who is listening and who is playing it. Aziz weighs factors like whether a piece will be performed live, recorded, or both; whether the venue is a concert hall, an open-air theater, or a school gym; whether the performers are professional musicians, beginner students, or somewhere in between; and whether they're already familiar with the piece's style — jazz musicians playing classical music, or classical musicians playing rock, for example. All of it factors into finding the version of a piece that fits the occasion best.
In rehearsal with Maria SchneiderHis biggest secret is people — the outstanding musicians and behind-the-scenes collaborators who patiently field his constant questions and do their best to help him make sure what he writes is the best version of what a piece can be. Most of his musician friends know that a text message in the middle of the night along the lines of “how fast can a bassoon play a chromatic run in the mid register?” is not out of the ordinary — and he credits his friends for some of the most creative solutions in his work.
