Church Music
Commercially available sacred music is a great resource, but it does not always fit the talent you have at your church. It may call for instruments your ministry has no access to, or for more musicians than you can afford. That is much of the reason a CCLI license lets a church make its own arrangement of a song when no published version of that arrangement is available.
Aziz specializes in customizing and adjusting existing music to fit the musicians you have. This is commission work, customized to your exact needs.
Services
Parts for instruments the original leaves out
You have players the published arrangement never accounted for. I write them real parts instead of handing them a line to double.
Reducing or expanding an orchestration
The same piece rescored for the musicians you actually have — covering what is missing when a section is short, or opening it back up for Christmas and Easter when there are extra people and a bigger room.
Strings or orchestra in place of a piano accompaniment
The same song with strings under the voices instead of piano — warm and sustained where the piano is bright and struck. A small change on the page that can shift the color of a whole service.
Strings added to a choir-only arrangement
An introduction, interludes, and a written string part that carries the voices rather than doubling them into mud.
A live string part over an existing track
If you run a backing or sweetener track, I write a part that locks to it — in the track's key and tempo, with the cues and the rests written where the players need them, so the section plays with the track instead of against it.
Transcription from a recording
If the version you want only exists as a recording, I can take it off the record and put it on the page as a score and parts.
Changing the key
An existing piece moved to a key that suits the voice singing it, with the accompaniment rewritten to sit properly rather than simply transposed.
How it works
What is needed is whatever you already have, along with your instrumentation, an honest sense of where the players are, and the date of the first rehearsal or service.
What comes back are parts, score and/or leadsheet as PDFs, laid out for the page turns your musicians will actually have to take. If any revisions are needed, feel free to reach out to Aziz for an updated version.
Most of this work has been for churches, and the same work applies to any tradition. If you want a sense of who you would be handing your music to, that is on the about page.
