Estrellita

Manuel Ponce wrote "Estrellita" in 1912, and it became the Mexican song the whole world knows — a serenade to a distant star that has outlived nearly everything else from its moment. Jascha Heifetz took it up as an encore and made it a violinist's signature, and his transcription has been the standard ever since. This arrangement keeps Heifetz's violin part intact and rebuilds the accompaniment for cello.
