Nights — Frank Ocean (arranged for string quartet) "Nights" is the centerpiece of Frank Ocean's 2016 album Blonde, and arguably its most talked-about moment. The track is famous for its mid-song beat switch — a hard pivot that lands almost exactly at the album's halfway point, splitting the song into two distinct halves and dividing Blonde itself into a "day" side and a "night" side. That structural sleight of hand turned it into one of the most analyzed songs of the decade and a fixture in conversations about Ocean's craft. Lyrically it moves through restlessness, work, memory, and dislocation, delivered in Ocean's conversational, half-sung style. The song has remained a fan favorite and a critical high point of an album widely regarded as one of the most influential releases of the 2010s.
