Trot de Cavalerie No. 1

Mikhail Glinka, the founding father of Russian classical music, wrote a set of short character pieces that capture the charm and directness he's known for. "Trot de cavalerie" No. 1 is one of these miniatures — a brisk, marching little number with a light military swagger and an immediately memorable tune. This arrangement is slightly abridged but keeps all of the original's character. The violin part stays entirely in first position and makes a great vehicle for working on second-finger sharps and naturals on the A and E strings.
